Dell announces new flagship storage arrays PowerMax 8500 and 2500

With the update of the hardware core, Dell claims that the performance of the new PowerMax has been doubled compared to the previous one, and the controller architecture has also introduced PCIe 4.0. In terms of transmission interface, the previous generation of PowerMax can support NVMe/FC, and now it further supports NVMe/TCP architecture with lower construction cost. It is worth mentioning that the FICON mainframe interface, which was only available on the high-end 8000 models in the past, is now available on both the entry-level 2500 and the high-end 8500, and supports the zHyperLink low-latency transmission technology developed by IBM.

In conjunction with the launch of the new PowerMax models, Dell also released a new version of the system software PowerMax OS 10, which adopts the new 64-bit Container microservice architecture and brings a series of data service improvements, including the new PowerMax File file access service. (replacing the previous eNAS), improved regional and remote replication, more efficient data reduction, and a number of new features against ransomware threats, including abnormal event detection with CloudIQ cloud platform, improved local It can also provide up to 65 million immutable snapshots as a secure copy of protected data content.
